Humanitarian Situation in Southern Afghanistan Deteriorates Sharply

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned of a severe worsening of the humanitarian situation in southern Afghanistan. Health centers in these provinces are overwhelmed with patients, and the number of people suffering from acute malnutrition is rising.

According to OCHA, poverty and hunger are placing immense pressure on families, and while people are grappling with multiple simultaneous crises, humanitarian aid resources are continuously declining.

This dire humanitarian situation in the south is a direct result of the Taliban administration’s restrictions and failures to provide essential support and vital services to those in need, significantly exacerbating livelihood challenges for a large portion of the Afghan population.
