Construction of Panjshir-Takhar Road Nears Completion After Long Delays

The construction of the 25-kilometer Panjshir to Takhar road, costing 450 million Afghanis, is approaching its final stages. This road will provide the shortest route between the two provinces and is expected to facilitate travel between these regions.
Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim, the governor of Panjshir, announced that nearly two kilometers remain to be completed. He stated that if weather conditions remain favorable, the construction work will soon be finished and the road will be ready for use.
However, prolonged delays in completing this infrastructure project and the Taliban administration’s lack of sustained attention to transportation network development have left Panjshir facing geographic challenges and continued isolation. Local officials say that in addition to making passenger travel easier, this road could also contribute to the growth of the region’s tourism industry. Nonetheless, the Taliban administration’s limited performance in infrastructure projects clearly poses significant challenges to the genuine development of the province.
