Taliban administration announces power projects in Kabul
Afghanistan’s electricity company says work is under way on several development projects to increase electricity generation, transmission and distribution capacity, and says completing them will significantly reduce power shortages and outages in Kabul.
Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, head of Afghanistan’s electricity company, said these projects are being implemented in the power sector. He did not provide further details on the number of projects, the completion timeline or their exact impact on Kabul’s electricity situation.
The remarks come as Kabul residents have repeatedly complained in recent years about electricity shortages and prolonged outages, a situation that has affected daily life and economic activity in the city.
Afghanistan’s electricity company is the body responsible for supplying and distributing power in the country, and Kabul, as Afghanistan’s most populous city, is one of the main centres of electricity consumption.
