United Front Says It Killed Two Taliban Members in Separate Attacks in Kabul and Sar-e Pul
The Afghanistan United Front has said its fighters targeted two Taliban members in separate attacks in Kabul and Sar-e Pul. The group claims that one member of the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice was killed in Kabul, and another Taliban member was killed in Sar-e Pul as a result of the attacks.
In two separate statements released early Wednesday, September 11, the group said the individual targeted in Kabul was “Qari Aghagul.” According to the United Front, he was a member of the Taliban’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and played a role in harassing Kabul residents. The attack took place in the 18th district of Kabul city.
In its second statement, the United Front said another attack took place at around 6 p.m. yesterday on the road to Kohistanat district in Sar-e Pul province. The group added that one member of the Taliban was also killed in this incident in Khatta Four.
Taliban officials have not yet commented on the two attacks. The claims made by the United Front have also not been independently verified.
The Afghanistan United Front had previously claimed that in the past month it carried out at least 43 operations in 14 provinces against the Taliban administration. According to the group, 74 Taliban fighters were killed and 35 others injured in those operations.
Helaal Kakar, spokesman for the Afghanistan United Front, said in a video clip that the group’s most important operation was a direct attack on the Taliban’s army corps in Kandahar, and its largest was the attack on a military base in Nawzad district of Helmand. The United Front, led by Sami Sadat, a former Afghan army commander, announced on August 1 that it had begun military operations against the “Taliban and other terrorist groups.”
