Herat Section of TAPI Pipeline Project to Be Completed by End-2026

Officials working on the TAPI project say construction of the Herat section will be completed and ready for operation by the end of 2026. According to them, of the total 153-kilometre route designated in Herat province, 145 kilometres have been prepared.
Based on information from the Taliban-run Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, 120 kilometres of pipeline along this route have so far been welded, and 51 kilometres have also been laid underground. The ministry has also said that work on designing the gas distribution network has begun.
The TAPI project is one of the regional gas transmission schemes that carries Turkmen gas through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India. The Herat section is considered one of the project’s important routes inside Afghanistan.
