Taliban administration shuts 128 pharmacies in Kabul

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Public Health said 128 pharmacies in different parts of Kabul were closed over the past month for violating regulations, including lacking legal documents, moving location without permission and failing to follow management and pricing rules.

In a statement, the ministry said its monitoring and inspection teams examined 721 pharmacies in Kabul during the past month. According to the statement, 22 pharmacies were shut for not having legal documents, four for relocating without permission, 20 for lacking a technical supervisor and 34 for not attaching price labels to medicines.

The Taliban administration’s Ministry of Public Health said another 48 pharmacies were also closed for storing medicines produced by GSK. The ministry added that 708 items of GSK medicines and smuggled medicines were seized and transferred to a designated site for destruction.

GSK is a British pharmaceutical company active in the production of medicines and vaccines.
