Democratic senators criticise Trump’s approach to Iran

U.S. Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen has criticised Donald Trump’s handling of Iran, saying he is “brazenly” exploiting an “illegal war” against Iran.
According to Al Mayadeen, citing Mehr News Agency, Van Hollen also said Trump is politically exploiting the suffering of the American people, including the consequences of what he described as a “useless” war.
Hours before these remarks, another U.S. senator, Bernie Sanders, also criticised Trump’s foreign policy in a post on the social media platform X. He wrote that America’s standing in the world is declining and that Trump is simultaneously engaged in a war with Iran, a trade war with Canada and a cold war with China.
Sanders also warned that Trump’s empowerment of Benjamin Netanyahu is fuelling the escalation of crises. The remarks come as criticism of Trump’s foreign policy approach, especially toward Iran, has been a persistent topic of discussion among some U.S. Democrats.
