Pakistani opposition leader urges Islamabad to end hostility toward Afghanistan

Mahmood Khan Achakzai has called on Pakistan to end what he described as “hostility toward Afghanistan.”

According to Pakistani media, he made the remarks at a meeting of opposition parties hosted by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam party.

Achakzai said that if the Pakistani government believes Afghanistan is pursuing a hostile policy toward Islamabad, it should share its documents and evidence with the public.

He also called on Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to explain to Pakistani citizens the country’s recent defence agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

Achakzai further suggested that Iran and Egypt could also join the agreement. He claimed that expanding this cooperation could pave the way for the creation of an Islamic force.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai is a well-known political figure in Pakistan and a critic of Islamabad’s policies toward Afghanistan. He has repeatedly called in the past for a review of relations between the two countries.
