Weather Department Warns of Heavy Rain and Flash Flooding in 10 Provinces

The weather department has warned that 10 provinces of Afghanistan are at risk of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and flash flooding.

According to the warning, Badakhshan, Takhar, Baghlan, Nuristan, Kunar, Laghman, Nangarhar, Paktia, Khost and Paktika are among the vulnerable areas.

The department said rainfall in some areas is forecast at between 10 and 30 millimetres. Wind speeds in some regions could also reach 50 to 100 kilometres per hour.

The weather department routinely monitors and forecasts the country’s weather conditions and issues necessary alerts when severe weather events are likely.
