Taliban Announces Construction of Cement Factory in Herat with $143 Million Investment

The Taliban administration has announced that construction of a large cement factory is set to begin on Sunday in the Zindajan district of Herat province. According to the authorities, the project will be implemented with a $143 million investment.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum claims that once completed, the factory will produce 3,000 tons of cement daily. The ministry also states that the commencement of production will create direct and indirect employment opportunities for approximately 5,000 people.

This development comes amid the current difficult economic conditions, where creating jobs and strengthening domestic production are fundamental needs for citizens. Projects like this, if fully realized, could help meet part of the domestic market’s demand for cement.

Herat province, located in western Afghanistan, is considered an important economic hub, and the Zindajan district is regarded as one of the industrial areas of the province.
