China Calls for Tension Reduction and Dialogue in the Red Sea
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that the country is closely monitoring developments in the Red Sea and urged the involved parties to resolve their disputes through dialogue and consultation.
Mao Ning, the spokesperson, said in a Wednesday press conference in Beijing, in response to questions about reports on potential talks between Chinese officials and Yemen’s Ansarallah regarding maritime security, that Beijing is “closely following” the situation in this critical waterway.
He emphasized that the sovereignty and security of regional countries must be respected, while ensuring the safe and unobstructed passage of ships through international waterways should be jointly protected.
The Red Sea is one of the world’s most important maritime corridors, connecting Europe and Asia. Previously, Yemen’s Ansarallah announced that in response to the Saudi Arabian blockade, it had imposed a reciprocal blockade against Saudi Arabia.
