Taliban’s Central Bank Engages Uzbekistan to Expand Bilateral Banking Cooperation

The Taliban’s central bank has announced that Sediqullah Khalid, its first deputy, held discussions with his Uzbek counterpart about expanding bilateral banking cooperation. This consultation took place amid the extensive restrictions imposed on Afghanistan’s banking system.

According to the institution, the meeting focused on effectively regulating banking interactions in line with the increasing trade volume between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, as well as technical cooperation.

Sediqullah Khalid stated during the meeting that the central bank is ready to enhance cooperation with Uzbekistan’s central bank to serve “mutual interests” and develop relations.

In response, Abror Mirza Olimov emphasized the importance of strengthening banking ties between the two countries and assured that Uzbekistan’s central bank will continue to expand its banking interactions with Afghanistan.

Both parties expressed hope that holding similar meetings and continuing technical cooperation would strengthen financial and banking relations between the two countries. Uzbekistan remains one of the few regional nations that has maintained its economic and trade relations with Afghanistan in recent years.
