Taliban Delegation Visits Nuristan to Assess Flood Damage and Aid Victims
In response to the loss of lives and financial damages caused by recent floods in Nuristan province, a delegation led by Dr. Abdul Wasi Khadem, head of the Taliban Prime Minister’s Office, traveled to Parun, the provincial capital, to evaluate the condition of the affected areas.
According to local officials, during the visit, information regarding the number of victims, extent of financial losses, rescue operations, and the status of affected families was shared with the delegation. The recent floods have caused significant damage to residents in parts of Nuristan.
Dr. Abdul Wasi Khadem expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and stated that the Taliban administration stands with the flood victims. He added that the process of assessing damages and addressing the urgent needs of those affected will proceed in accordance with directives from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Qari Zain-ul-Abidin Abid, the governor of Nuristan, also emphasized the ongoing rescue operations and aid distribution, highlighting that coordination among local authorities to support affected families is ongoing.
During this visit, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office also participated in the funeral ceremony of the martyr Syed Ahmad Khan Arhabi, the mayor of Parun city. Nuristan, a mountainous province in eastern Afghanistan, has experienced devastating floods multiple times in recent years.
