UNICEF Distributes Nutritional Supplements to Pregnant Women in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it is providing nutritional supplements to pregnant women in Afghanistan aimed at improving the health conditions of mothers and newborns.

UNICEF stated yesterday on its X page that this program is being implemented with financial support from the Bezos Family Foundation. According to the organization, obtaining necessary nutrients during pregnancy plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of both the mother and the newborn.

The agency emphasized that providing nutritional supplements to pregnant women is part of broader efforts to improve the nutrition of mothers and children and to reduce health risks caused by nutrient deficiencies in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan has faced extensive challenges in recent years regarding nutrition and access to health services, with international organizations warning about the ongoing nutritional support needs of families, especially women and children.
