UN-Habitat to Rebuild 1.4 Kilometer Road in Kabul’s District 19 with Japanese Support

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has announced the reconstruction of a 1.4-kilometer road in District 19 of Kabul. The project will be implemented with financial support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The initiative aims to improve transportation and facilitate the daily lives of residents in this area.

On Monday, July 13, UN-Habitat reported that the poor condition of roads in this part of Kabul had been hindering people’s access to essential services and economic opportunities. According to UN-Habitat, rebuilding this route will make daily commuting safer and faster.

The UN Human Settlements Programme emphasized that improving urban infrastructure plays a crucial role in enhancing citizens’ quality of life and can enable better access to public services and economic activities.

In recent years, the deterioration of roads and lack of maintenance of urban infrastructure in Kabul have been serious challenges for the capital’s residents, a matter that requires effective attention and management by responsible authorities, including the Taliban administration.
