Pakistan Calls for Restraint and Supports Diplomatic Efforts Amid Iran-US Tensions

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it is closely monitoring the recent developments between Iran and the United States and has urged both sides to exercise restraint to prevent escalation of tensions. Islamabad emphasized its support for diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
In an official statement, the ministry expressed deep concern over events that could lead to increased regional tensions. It stressed that dialogue and diplomacy should remain the primary means for resolving disputes.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry also reaffirmed the importance of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of regional countries, describing it as a fundamental principle of international relations. Islamabad called on Iran and the US to take practical steps to reduce tensions and to honor their commitments under existing agreements.
The recent developments in Tehran-Washington relations have once again highlighted the sensitivity of the issue. Alongside signs of ongoing diplomatic contacts, certain political and security maneuvers have added to the complexity of the situation.
US President Donald Trump, in his recent remarks, mentioned the end of the ceasefire but simultaneously emphasized the continuation of negotiations; a stance that some analysts interpret as a dual approach of pressure and dialogue in the US foreign policy. Previously, the US has sought to advance its goals with Iran by combining diplomatic engagement with the use of political and economic tools.
