German Foreign Minister: Iran and Ukraine Crises Can Only Be Resolved Through Negotiations

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has stated that the crises in Iran and Ukraine will not be resolved militarily and that their conclusions will not be determined on the battlefield, but rather require serious diplomatic efforts. According to Deutsche Welle, he emphasized on Saturday that intensive political efforts and targeted dialogues must be prioritized to resolve both crises. He said, “The end of neither of these conflicts will be on the battlefield, but will be achieved at the negotiating table.” The German foreign minister underlined the diplomatic solution even as tensions surrounding Iran and the war in Ukraine continue. In recent months, alongside indirect talks between Tehran and Washington, there have been reports of attacks on Iranian soil, adding complexity to the situation. Despite these developments, Berlin believes that the continuation of conflicts could have broader consequences for regional and international security, and thus views focusing on dialogue and political mechanisms as the sustainable solution.
