Axios Reports Trump Ordered Military Strikes on Iran During NATO Summit in Ankara

Axios has reported that Donald Trump, President of the United States, issued orders for U.S. military strikes against Iran while attending the NATO summit in Ankara. According to the report, Trump approved the attack plan and gave the command to execute it after arriving in Turkey and participating in the NATO meeting. Barak Ravid, an Axios journalist, cited U.S. government sources on the social platform X regarding this matter. Axios also stated that the U.S. President held a meeting in Ankara with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bassett, and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Dan Keen to review military options and the latest developments. According to a U.S. government official, it remains unclear how long these attacks will continue, with decisions on their continuation or cessation to be based on assessments of the operation’s outcomes. Previously, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the commencement of a series of attacks against Iran, describing the action as a response to what it called ‘Iran’s attacks on three ships in the Strait of Hormuz.’
