11 Pakistani Security Forces Killed in Balochistan Operation

Geo News, citing Pakistani security sources, reported that 11 members of Pakistan’s security forces were killed during an operation in Balochistan province. According to these sources, 19 insurgents were also killed in the clash.
The operation was launched along the N-25 highway in Balochistan, a region where, according to security officials, individuals linked to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan were engaged in extorting travelers and local residents. The N-25 highway is one of the main transit routes in southwestern Pakistan.
It is reported that the operation began following an insurgent attack on a checkpoint in the Ziarat area of Balochistan. In that attack, nine Pakistani police officers were killed, and five others were kidnapped by the assailants.
Balochistan has been one of Pakistan’s most insecure provinces in recent years, with anti-government armed groups continuing their activities in some areas. Pakistani security officials have stated that operations to secure the highways and prevent insurgent actions will continue.
