IOM Provides Cash Aid to Rebuild Homes for Earthquake Victims in Eastern Afghanistan

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that families affected by the devastating earthquakes in eastern Afghanistan are rebuilding their lives with cash assistance from the agency. According to IOM, this program is implemented with funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and focuses on providing adequate shelter for the affected families.
Based on information released on Tuesday, July 7, these cash grants enable families to construct better and safer homes instead of living in temporary tents for extended periods. IOM emphasized that this approach preserves the dignity of the affected families and facilitates their gradual return to normal life.
The organization added that several months after the earthquakes, many families still face serious challenges and require ongoing humanitarian support. The shortage of adequate shelter remains one of the main challenges in the earthquake-affected areas.
The United Nations has previously stressed that providing suitable shelter and sustained support to affected families is a key priority in Afghanistan’s post-disaster reconstruction efforts.
