Flood Control Projects Begin in Faryab’s Khwaja SabzPoush District

The General Directorate for Disaster Preparedness has announced the commencement of two flood risk reduction projects in Khwaja SabzPoush district of Faryab province. These projects are being implemented in cooperation with the World Vision office, aiming to control flooding and protect vulnerable areas.
According to the press release from the directorate, the projects include the construction of a diversion dam and a covered water canal. Officials stated that these facilities are designed to better control and manage surface water and prevent damages caused by floods.
Officials from Faryab’s Disaster Preparedness Directorate say that upon completion, these projects will safeguard several villages from flood threats and help protect the lives, properties, and public infrastructure of residents. They further added that such measures can reduce both financial and human losses resulting from natural disasters.
Local residents will also benefit from these projects through reduced vulnerability to natural hazards and improved water resource management. The Faryab Disaster Preparedness Directorate emphasized that preventive programs will continue in other vulnerable areas as well.
