Taliban Officials Meet to Expand Telecommunications in Bamyan Province

The Bamyan Police Department announced that Mawlawi Habibullah Shakir, its chief, met with Mawlawi Abdul Ahad Fazli, the Taliban’s Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology, at his office. During the meeting, both sides discussed and exchanged views on expanding telecommunications services and strengthening information technology in Bamyan province.

According to Bamyan security officials, the meeting emphasized that the remote areas of the province are in greater need than ever of the development of telecommunications services and access to information technology. They described the role of these services as crucial in improving public service delivery and facilitating the affairs of the local residents.

Meanwhile, the Taliban’s Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology described the security environment in Bamyan as suitable for implementing technical projects. He attributed this to local management and the measures taken by the authorities of this administration. He added that the availability of a secure environment could accelerate the development process of telecommunications networks and information technology systems in the province.

Bamyan province, located in central Afghanistan, includes mountainous and scattered areas, where access to telecommunications services still faces challenges in some regions. Residents of this province have consistently called for improved network coverage and better access to digital services in recent years.
