Over 6,000 Youth Graduate from Free Courses in Badakhshan Province

The Department of Information and Culture in Badakhshan says it has provided free education opportunities to more than six thousand underprivileged youths in the province over the past four years. According to officials from this department, these young people have received training in English and Arabic languages, computer skills, public speaking, and calligraphy.
Abdulsamad Shirzad, Head of Youth Affairs at the department, stated at a graduation ceremony for a group of participants that nearly six thousand young people have graduated from the department’s training center during this period. He added that in the most recent session alone, 260 individuals received certificates in English language, computer skills, and public speaking.
Several graduates of these programs said that due to economic difficulties, they are unable to afford private course fees, making these free programs an important educational opportunity for them.
Officials from the Badakhshan Department of Information and Culture, which operates under the Taliban administration, say they are working to expand the program to some other districts within the province. However, educational experts consistently emphasize the need for transparency in the selection process of participants and equal access for youth in all areas—especially remote regions—so that such programs can effectively meet the broad needs of young people.
