Up to 30 Million Expected to Attend Funeral of Iran’s Martyred Leader Across Iran and Iraq

The international publication The Cradle has reported that during the six-day memorial and funeral ceremonies of Iran’s martyred leader, held in both Iran and Iraq, at least 30 million people are expected to participate. According to the report, official events will begin in Tehran and continue through the holy cities of Qom, Najaf, Karbala, and Mashhad.
The media outlet noted that images from Tehran show vast crowds of mourners holding Iranian tricolor flags and portraits of the martyred leader gathered at the Imam Khomeini Grand Prayer Hall and surrounding roads. During the ceremonies, the participants chanted slogans, and a number of young people distributed posters with themes related to seeking justice. Iranian media have described this turnout as a renewed pledge to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
According to the announced schedule, the martyred leader’s body will be buried on Monday in Tehran, then transferred to the holy city of Qom on Tuesday. Following that, tribute ceremonies will be held in Najaf and Karbala in Iraq. Finally, the burial will take place on Thursday at the Imam Reza Shrine in the city of Mashhad.
It has also been reported that high-ranking delegations from about 100 countries, including Russia, China, India, Pakistan, and Turkey, have arrived in Tehran to attend the ceremonies. Representatives from groups known as the Resistance Front, including Hezbollah Lebanon, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Ansar Allah in Yemen, and some Iraqi factions, have also taken part in the event.
The Cradle concluded in its report that the anticipated scale of participation at these ceremonies reflects the status and influence of the martyred leader among segments of the Islamic world.
