Indirect Technical Talks Between Iran and US Begin in Doha

Reuters has reported that technical talks between Iran and the United States took place indirectly today, Wednesday, in Doha, the capital of Qatar. In this process, Qatar and Pakistan are acting as intermediaries, and the discussions are being conducted at the expert level.
According to the report, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s main representatives, are present in Doha; however, they are not participating in the technical sessions. They met with Qatar’s Prime Minister on Tuesday to facilitate the holding of Wednesday’s meetings.
Meanwhile, Esmail Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had earlier stated that there are no negotiation plans with the American side at any level in the coming days. He noted that the dispatch of an expert delegation led by Kazem Gharibabadi, the ministry’s deputy, to Qatar was made within the framework of following up on the implementation of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
Baqaei added that since June 18, Tehran has taken every opportunity to pursue various sections of this memorandum and that the Doha meeting is held with the participation of the Qatari side. In recent days, reports about the possibility of high-level talks involving Kushner and Witkoff had circulated; however, Iranian officials have emphasized that the talks continue solely at the technical level and indirectly.
