Saudi Embassy Distributes 1,240 Food Packages to Returning Migrants in Afghanistan

The Saudi Embassy in Kabul has announced that the King Salman Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center distributed 1,240 food packages last week among returning migrants in the provinces of Daikundi and Ghor.

According to the embassy’s press release, these aid efforts are carried out within the framework of the “Food Security and Emergency Support Project for Afghanistan 2025–2026.” The program aims to address the urgent needs of families facing livelihood challenges after returning to the country.

In recent months, the humanitarian activities of the King Salman Center in Afghanistan have expanded, with a greater focus on returning migrants and needy families—households struggling with severe economic difficulties due to the lack of job opportunities and stable income.

Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, is grappling with increasing poverty and unemployment. Extensive restrictions, reduced job opportunities, and economic downturn have made many residents, especially returnees from neighboring countries, reliant on humanitarian aid to meet basic living needs; a situation that underscores the importance of effective management and accountability by the Taliban administration in addressing the economic crisis.
