Jamaat-ul-Ahrar Says No Need for Afghan Soil to Attack Pakistan

The group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar has declared that it does not need to use Afghan soil to carry out operations against the Pakistani military, with all its structures, forces, and equipment based inside Pakistan. This statement came after the Pakistani military conducted airstrikes early today targeting parts of the provinces of Paktia, Paktika, and Kunar.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, considered a faction of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, rejected Islamabad officials’ claims that attacks were planned and executed from Afghan territory. The group said all its military operations are organized and carried out within Pakistan. The statement added that Pakistani military centers are continuously under the group’s surveillance, but Afghan territory has never been used against Pakistan.

The group also accused the Pakistani army of blaming Afghanistan for insecurity to cover up what it called “security failures.” Jamaat-ul-Ahrar claimed that the recent airstrikes resulted in civilian casualties and injuries, labeling the attacks as “war crimes.”

Pakistan’s airstrikes were in response to a suicide attack on Saturday against a commando camp in Karachi. The Pakistani military stated that these operations were part of counterterrorism measures.

Meanwhile, the Taliban administration reported that at least 36 civilians were killed and 163 others injured due to these airstrikes. Heightened security tensions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border continue, with border residents repeatedly expressing concern over the consequences of clashes between the two sides.
