Naftali Bennett Criticizes Arab Leaders for Ignoring Palestinian Issue, Opposes Palestinian Statehood

Naftali Bennett, the former Prime Minister of Israel, has once again opposed the establishment of a Palestinian state, claiming that Arab leaders do not care about the Palestinian issue. He asserted that what matters to these leaders is not the fate of the Palestinians but the public opinion in their own countries.
Bennett stated, “Arab leaders do not think about the Palestinians when they wake up in the morning; their main concern is the atmosphere in the streets and the views of their people.” He added that he is unwilling to “endanger Israel’s security,” and for this reason, he will not agree to the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
These remarks come amid one of the most contentious issues in regional politics — the formation of a Palestinian state — which has been at the center of discussions and widespread tensions for decades. Bennett’s explicit opposition to this plan aligns with the views of right-wing Israeli factions.
As a prominent figure of Israel’s right-wing, Bennett is attempting to position himself as an alternative to Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of the potential upcoming elections. In recent months, he has sought to strengthen his standing in polls by presenting himself as a “political realist” and leveraging the existing fractures within the ruling coalition.
