Turkish Media Reports Arrest of ISIS Khorasan Media Operative

The Turkish newspaper Kısa Dalga has reported that Ahmad Kazanji, who was recently detained by Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), was involved in the media wing of ISIS’s Khorasan branch. According to the report, he produced propaganda content in the Turkish language for the group in the mountainous areas of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
The newspaper states that Kazanji traveled from Turkey to Pakistan in 2024, passing through Iran on his way. Upon arrival, he joined the ranks of ISIS Khorasan, a branch of ISIS primarily active in parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
In his statements, Kazanji claimed that he did not participate in any armed activities and was solely engaged in the media operations of the group. Nevertheless, the propaganda and media activities of ISIS Khorasan are considered a key part of the group’s operational structure, playing a role in recruitment and the spread of extremism.
The report adds that Kazanji was ultimately arrested by Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization and subsequently transferred to prison. Turkish officials have yet to release further details regarding the legal proceedings in this case.
