818 Plots of Land Distributed to Returning Migrants in Five Afghan Provinces

The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has announced that 818 returning migrant families have been allocated residential land plots across five provinces of the country. With this distribution phase, the total number of allocated land plots nationwide has reached 49,336.
The ministry’s press office, operating under the Taliban administration, stated today that the latest land distribution process has been carried out in Nangarhar, Farah, Faryab, Helmand, and Nimroz provinces. According to the Permanent Settlement and Land Distribution Committee, this program continues with the goal of providing shelter for returning migrants.
Based on the information provided, in this phase, 303 families in Nangarhar, 281 families in Farah, 170 families in Faryab, 48 families in Helmand, and 16 families in Nimroz were included in the list of eligible recipients.
Officials claim that the process of permanently settling migrants is being followed regularly and swiftly; however, no further details have been given regarding the selection criteria for beneficiaries, the quality of the distributed land areas, or families’ access to basic services such as water, electricity, schools, and healthcare centers. Many returning migrants in recent years have faced serious livelihood challenges and a lack of basic facilities, and transparency in the implementation of such programs remains one of their key demands.
The Permanent Settlement and Land Distribution Committee operates under the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing controlled by the Taliban and advances the program of allocating residential lands in different parts of the country.
