Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health Supports Chinese Investment in Pharmaceuticals
The Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health has announced its support for legitimate and quality investments in the fields of medicine, food, and health products. This was discussed during a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Food and Medicine of the ministry and a Chinese investor.
According to a released statement, both parties talked about expanding economic and technical cooperation in medicine and pharmaceutical raw materials, investment opportunities in Afghanistan, knowledge transfer, and the use of modern technologies. They also discussed expanding joint cooperation in related sectors.
The Deputy Minister of Food and Medicine emphasized that this office supports legitimate investments in accordance with existing laws and regulations and will provide necessary facilities for investors in this sector. He welcomed the interest of the Chinese investment delegation to operate in Afghanistan.
In response, the Chinese investment delegation expressed satisfaction with the available opportunities and declared their readiness to explore joint investments in pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical raw materials, and health services. The pharmaceutical and health product manufacturing sector in Afghanistan has been identified as one that requires investment and capacity strengthening over the recent years.
