UNICEF Stresses Importance of Measles Vaccination to Protect Children in Afghanistan

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has stated that measles vaccination plays a decisive role in preventing the spread of this highly contagious disease and protecting the lives of children in Afghanistan. The agency emphasizes that vaccination can halt the rapid spread of measles among children and prevent serious health consequences.
On Wednesday, June 16, UNICEF posted on its official X account that measles is one of the dangerous diseases that can spread quickly and, without vaccination, poses a serious threat to the health and life of children.
According to UNICEF, continuing vaccination efforts—especially in vulnerable areas—is critically important. The organization added that in Afghanistan, vaccination programs for children are ongoing in cooperation with partner agencies to prevent a widespread outbreak of the disease.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that primarily affects children and is preventable through vaccination. Health organizations have consistently stressed that regular and nationwide access to vaccines is the most effective way to control this disease.
