Taliban Ministry Announces New Regulations to Revise Kabul’s Urban Billboards

The Commission for the Reform of Billboards and Advertisement Boards, chaired by Mohajer Farahi, Deputy of Publications at the Taliban’s Ministry of Information and Culture, has emphasized regulating Kabul’s urban billboards and addressing what it calls “visual problems.”
According to a statement received by Bakhtar News Agency, members of the commission discussed how to organize and reform billboards and advertisement panels throughout Kabul and made necessary decisions. They also stressed greater cooperation from the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior in implementing the commission’s field programs.
During the meeting, an official memorandum was approved which stipulates that suitable equivalents in national languages will be prepared for foreign words and terms and provided to merchants and professionals. This move comes amid increasing restrictions on the use of certain words in recent years, which has raised concerns among residents and cultural activists about possible impacts on commercial activities.
Additionally, Qari Wali Gul Jawad, Head of Cultural Affairs at Kabul Municipality, along with several commission members, was appointed as the official spokesperson responsible for providing information to the media.
The meeting concluded with discussions on other topics related to the commission’s activities, and necessary decisions were made accordingly.
