Herat Sees Increased Medicine Production After Ban on Pakistani Imports

The head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines has announced that following the ban on the import of Pakistani medicines, the production levels in pharmaceutical factories in the province have risen. Currently, thousands of medicine items and tens of thousands of serums are supplied daily to domestic markets across the country.
Mohammad Nasser Amin told the media that eight pharmaceutical factories are currently operational in Herat, with their products being regularly introduced to the market. According to him, these factories have managed to meet a portion of domestic demand.
Amin emphasized that the ban on the entry of Pakistani medicines has created an opportunity for further growth in the domestic pharmaceutical industry. He called this situation a chance to strengthen national production.
The head of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines added that continued support for domestic production could drive Afghanistan towards self-sufficiency in the pharmaceutical sector and reduce the country’s dependence on imports. Herat is among the provinces that have seen significant growth in manufacturing industries, especially pharmaceutical production, in recent years.
