Cash Aid Distributed to 350 Needy Families in Nangarhar to Combat Poverty and Drug-Related Risks

The Anti-Narcotics Department of the Nangarhar Police Command has announced that it has distributed cash aid to 350 poor and needy families in the province. According to officials, this assistance was provided in collaboration with several organizations.

Officials added that, in addition to financial aid, vocational, religious, and literacy training opportunities have also been made available to some individuals and children from these families. They stated that the aim of this initiative is to support vulnerable families and prevent them from engaging in drug-related activities.

Nangarhar, an eastern province of Afghanistan, has faced significant economic challenges and widespread unemployment in recent years. Many residents say that increasing poverty and limited job opportunities during the Taliban administration have heightened the urgent need for aid.

While distributing cash aid can alleviate some immediate difficulties faced by needy families, social experts emphasize that a sustainable solution lies in creating lasting employment opportunities and transparent support programs—a responsibility that rests directly with the Taliban administration.
