Key Highways in Baghlan Reopened After Flooding

The spokesperson for the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Works has announced that several major highways in Baghlan province, which were blocked due to heavy rains and flooding, have been reopened to traffic.
Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas stated that the Baghlan-Kunduz main highway, Khanjan-Banu road, and several other routes that had been closed due to destruction and accumulation of mud have been cleared of obstacles and are now ready for vehicle passage.
According to him, technical teams carried out cleaning and preliminary reconstruction work on these routes after the floodwaters receded to restore transportation between districts and neighboring provinces.
Baghlan province, located in northern Afghanistan, is one of the areas frequently at risk of flooding and road closures during the rainy season; a recurring issue that affects residents’ lives and the transportation of commercial goods every year.
