Spain Bans Israeli Interior Minister Ben-Gvir Over Humiliating Treatment of Aid Activists

Spain’s Foreign Minister announced that Itamar Ben-Gvir, Israel’s Minister of Internal Security, has been banned from entering Spain following the release of footage showing his humiliating treatment of activists detained from the ‘Steadfast’ aid flotilla. Madrid continues to call for the immediate release of these activists and has submitted an official protest note to the Israeli chargé d’affaires.
On Thursday, José Manuel Albares emphasized that the Spanish government is deeply concerned about the detention of the aid flotilla members and demands an immediate end to the situation. He stated that the released footage depicting Ben-Gvir’s insulting behavior toward the detainees does not comply with accepted international standards.
Earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez condemned the Israeli Interior Minister’s actions against the passengers of the Steadfast global flotilla, saying such treatment is completely unacceptable. The Steadfast flotilla was organized to provide aid to Gaza, and the detention of its members has sparked political reactions in several countries.
In another part of his remarks, the Spanish Foreign Minister referred to U.S. threats against Havana, underscoring that the Cuban people alone have the right to determine their future, and Madrid is working to send aid to Cuba.
