WHO Issues Warning on Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Ahead of Eid al-Adha in Afghanistan

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued new guidelines to prevent the spread of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in Afghanistan ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha festival. The organization has urged citizens to strictly observe health and safety measures during the animal sacrifice to curb the spread of the disease.
According to the guidelines, animal slaughtering should be conducted in appropriate locations away from crowded areas. It also emphasizes that individuals involved in the sacrifice process should use protective equipment such as gloves and suitable clothing.
Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever is a viral disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans, usually through contact with the blood or tissues of infected animals. Given the increase in livestock slaughtering during the Eid celebrations, adherence to hygiene principles can play a crucial role in reducing the risk of infection among the population.
