New Video Highlights Taliban Violence Against Civilians

Following the release of a video showing the severe beating of two elderly men by Taliban fighters, the Human Rights Activists Alliance has stated that this incident reflects the ongoing structural and organized violence against civilians in the country.
On Monday, May 18, the organization issued a statement declaring that the footage depicts a group of armed individuals attacking civilians with sticks, punches, and kicks—an act that, according to the group, goes beyond all ethical, legal, and humanitarian standards.
According to the statement, available evidence and reports suggest that the incident is likely related to issues such as land grabbing, forced displacement, or intimidation among local residents. The Human Rights Activists Alliance emphasized that such cases occur within a recurring pattern of violations of human dignity and fundamental citizen rights.
The organization added that the continuation of such actions deepens social wounds and increases future instability in the country. They believe that silence in the face of such behavior enables its repetition and escalation.
In past years, videos of beatings and mistreatment of women and men by Taliban forces have circulated widely on social media. In the most recent case, released footage shows a young boy and a woman in Kabul city also being beaten, raising concerns about the immunity of civilians.
