Putin: Russia Will Not Halt Its Missile Programs

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, announced that Moscow will continue the modernization and strengthening of its strategic nuclear forces while simultaneously working on missile systems that, according to him, can penetrate all current and future missile defense systems.
On Wednesday, Putin emphasized that Russia will persist in developing missile systems capable of breaching defensive shields. He also stated that mobile systems equipped with non-nuclear ballistic missiles have been effectively utilized during what Moscow calls the “special military operation.”
The Russian president added that the achievements and innovations of the Soviet Union in missile technology remain effective and are still in use.
A day earlier, Putin said Russia is gradually implementing its nuclear forces development program. He cited the United States’ withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty as one of the reasons Moscow is focusing more on ensuring its strategic security.
He went on to name several weapons systems, describing the “Sarmat” missile as the most powerful missile system in the world and claimed its capacity is multiple times that of comparable Western models. According to him, work on the “Poseidon” system and the “Burevestnik” missile is in its final stages, and upgrades to the “Kinzhal” missile are ongoing. Putin stressed that Russia will not stop its missile programs.
