Heavy Rainfall and Flood Warning Issued for 16 Provinces in Afghanistan

The Meteorological Department under the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation has announced that heavy rainfall and flooding are expected today in 16 provinces of the country. According to information released by the department, the provinces of Bamyan, Maidan Wardak, Herat, Farah, Badghis, Ghor, Uruzgan, Daikundi, Ghazni, Parwan, Baghlan, Nangarhar, Logar, Paktia, Khost, and Paktika are among the areas forecasted to experience rainfall and floods. The source stated that the amount of rainfall in various parts of these provinces is estimated to range between 10 to 25 millimeters. The Meteorological Department did not provide further details on the potential consequences of this rainfall; however, heavy rains in some mountainous and valley areas can typically increase the risk of flash floods.
