Pakistan’s Ambassador Warns Taliban Over Security Threats Amid Rising Tensions

Abdul Rahman Nizami, Pakistan’s ambassador in Kabul, warned during the first anniversary ceremony of the four-day war between Pakistan and India that Islamabad’s desire for peace should not be mistaken for weakness. He urged the Taliban administration to take practical and measurable steps to curb terrorist threats that Pakistani officials say originate from Afghan soil.

The Pakistani embassy in Kabul, in a statement, emphasized Islamabad’s commitment to fraternal relations with Afghanistan; however, it underlined that preventing the activities of armed groups within Afghanistan is a fundamental necessity for the continuation of these relations.

As of the publication of this news, the Taliban administration has not issued an official response. However, its officials have repeatedly rejected Pakistani claims regarding the presence of terrorist groups, especially the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), within Afghanistan’s territory.

This comes amid longstanding tensions between Kabul and Islamabad over the issue of armed groups operating within Afghan territory. Experts believe that the Taliban administration, as the entity responsible for ensuring nationwide security, is obligated to address the security concerns of neighboring countries and to implement transparent and practical measures to prevent the use of Afghan soil against others.
