Kajaki Dam Reaches Capacity, Bringing New Hope to Helmand Farmers

Following recent rainfall in Helmand province, the water reserve in the Kajaki Dam has significantly increased, filling its basin. This development has brought new hope to the farmers in the province.
Several Helmand farmers have said that their fields have now reached the production stage, and access to sufficient water can play a decisive role in improving the quality and quantity of their crops. According to them, adequate water is one of the fundamental needs of agriculture in this province, where most areas face a hot and dry climate.
However, the farmers emphasize that the high price of chemical fertilizers and improved seeds has reduced their economic profits. They add that alongside water management, lowering production costs is also essential for the sustainability of agricultural activities.
Meanwhile, local officials have announced plans to support farmers. They state that cooperation in various sectors, including promoting drip irrigation systems, can help make more effective use of water resources and strengthen the agricultural sector in Helmand.
The Kajaki Dam is one of the most important water dams in the country, located in Helmand province. It plays a crucial role in supplying irrigation water and managing water resources in southern Afghanistan.
