UN: 40,000 Palestinians Displaced in West Bank Due to Israeli Military Operations and Settler Attacks

A United Nations deputy spokesperson has reported that since the beginning of 2025, approximately 40,000 Palestinians in the West Bank have been displaced as a result of Israeli military operations and settler attacks. This figure is based on reports from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Farhan Haq, speaking at UN headquarters, stated that during the first week of May alone, house demolitions by Israeli settlers resulted in the displacement of 42 Palestinians, including 24 children. He noted that the process of home demolitions and forced displacement of families continues across various parts of the West Bank.
He emphasized that the Israeli army and armed settlers, who operate with military support, have continued their attacks in different West Bank cities. According to the UN official, these assaults have targeted not only civilians but also Palestinian properties and agricultural lands—people considered the original inhabitants of the territory.
In recent developments, for the third consecutive week, worshippers have been prevented from entering the “Beit al-Sheikh” mosque in the Khirbet Tana area east of Nablus. Reports continue to emerge of raids on homes, destruction of farmland, and arrests across several West Bank governorates.
The West Bank, including East Jerusalem, has witnessed an escalation in Israeli military operations in recent months. These operations include night raids, widespread arrests, shootings, and use of force. At the same time, settler attacks against Palestinian residents have increased.
According to official Palestinian statistics, since October 2023, at least 1,155 Palestinians have been killed in these attacks and about 11,750 others injured. Nearly 22,000 Palestinians have been detained during this period, raising widespread concerns over human rights conditions and the security of civilians in the region.
