4,594 Migrants Return to Afghanistan in One Day

The High Commission for Migrants and Displaced Persons has announced that 4,594 migrants returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan yesterday. According to the commission’s report, these returnees include 879 families who entered the country through various routes.
The source stated that the returnees crossed into Afghanistan via the Islam Qala border in Herat province, the Rah-e Abrisham (Silk Road) crossing in Nimroz, Bahramcha in Helmand, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, and Torkham in Nangarhar.
It was further reported that out of the returning families, 816 families, totaling 4,090 individuals, have been relocated to their main residential areas. Additionally, humanitarian aid has been distributed to 835 families.
The commission also noted that to facilitate communications, 907 SIM cards for mobile networks were distributed among the returnees. The return of migrants has increased in recent weeks, raising concerns about the provision of basic services and livelihood opportunities for them.
