Taliban Bans Private Security Guards from Wearing Military Uniforms

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has announced that private security company guards are prohibited from wearing military uniforms and equipment while on duty and carrying weapons. This decision is based on a resolution by the ministry’s leadership council.

According to a statement released by the ministry, all private security guards are required to perform their security duties wearing ordinary, appropriate civilian clothing. The statement emphasized that the use of clothing and equipment resembling those of military forces is forbidden.

The Ministry of Interior warned that individuals who violate this directive will face legal prosecution by the responsible authorities. However, no details were provided regarding how compliance with this decision will be monitored or the potential punishments.

In recent years, the Taliban administration has imposed extensive restrictions across various security and social sectors. Experts believe that such orders are part of the administration’s efforts to increase control over security areas and prevent parallel activities in this domain.
