127,000 Students Enrolled in Afghan Public Universities in 2025

According to a report by the website “Promehtag,” nearly 127,000 students were enrolled in bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs at public universities in Afghanistan during the year 1404 in the Persian calendar (2025 Gregorian). The report also states that over 81,000 students pursued higher education in bachelor’s and master’s programs at private universities across the country during the same period. The statistics indicate that a significant portion of Afghan youth continue to attend both public and private higher education institutions, which have faced various educational and structural challenges in recent years. Public universities operate under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, while private universities offer academic programs within the regulatory framework set by this ministry.
