Afghanistan’s Logar Province Opens First Modern Electricity Meter Testing Laboratory

The Logar Provincial Electricity Department has announced the inauguration of the first modern electricity meter testing laboratory in the region. Established with a budget of 50,000 US dollars, the lab aims to improve services and provide greater convenience for local residents.
Mir Ahmad Wali Hashemi, head of Logar’s electricity department, stated that with the activation of this laboratory, technical testing of single-phase, simple three-phase, and three-phase current meters experiencing technical issues will now be conducted within the department itself.
He added that this initiative is part of a broader program to develop services and increase electricity customer satisfaction across the province. It is also expected to expedite the handling of technical complaints.
Previously, residents of Logar had to travel to electricity departments in Paktia and Kabul provinces for technical inspections of their meters, a process that was both costly and time-consuming. The new laboratory is expected to address these challenges locally within Logar.
