Taliban Officials Establish Special Facility to Preserve Old Qurans in Helmand

Taliban authorities have announced the construction of a special facility for storing old and unusable copies of the Quran in the Nawrsaraj district of Helmand province. According to them, this place has been created to preserve and protect Qurans that have deteriorated due to the passage of time.
These officials have urged residents to hand over old and damaged copies of the Quran to this facility for proper preservation. They emphasized that establishing such locations is part of the Taliban administration’s religious programs.
The Taliban administration also stated that it plans to establish similar facilities in other provinces of the country but has not provided details regarding the cost, budget, or funding sources for these projects.
This move comes while millions of Afghan citizens are enduring difficult economic conditions, with widespread poverty and hunger across many parts of the country. Despite the Taliban administration’s focus on religious programs, no effective and comprehensive measures have yet been reported to alleviate the livelihoods crisis or address the urgent needs of the people—an issue that continues to be a subject of public questioning and demand.
