UN Special Trust Fund Plays Key Role in Meeting Afghanistan’s Basic Needs: 2025 Report

The United Nations, in its 2025 outcome report, has stated that the “Special Trust Fund for Afghanistan” has assisted in meeting the basic needs of the country’s population by bringing together various UN agencies. This fund operates jointly to provide a more coordinated and effective response to humanitarian challenges.
According to the report, the special fund, by pooling financial resources, has facilitated close cooperation among UN agencies to deliver essential services across different sectors to the people of Afghanistan. The primary focus of this mechanism is supporting vulnerable groups and alleviating pressures caused by multifaceted crises.
The United Nations also notes that the fund continues to work towards strengthening the “humanitarian-development-peace nexus,” an approach aimed at moving beyond immediate aid toward long-term resilience. The organization emphasizes that coordination among agencies has led to more targeted programs and the design and implementation of more sustainable responses.
